Well, I am now he owner of a pair of shiny new trainers.
I am really hoping that this wil be the end of my almost constant blisters. It is now a year since I started running and in that time I have got through three pairs of trainers and I have had blisters with all of them. All of them were bought from specialist running shops after gait analysis. The advice I have received has varied tremendously.
Today I went to Sweatshop in Brighton. I explained the problems I had been having and took the trainers I have been running in to show them, we also spent some time discussing the running I have done to date and what I have planned for the next 6 months.
I do’t know much about the mechanics of trainers, or what things are suitable for what type of running. To be honest I find all the jargon slightly confusing, especially all the different marketing terms that companies come out with, trying to decipher it in to plain understandable English isn’t always easy.
Anyway, the real reason I went to Sweatshop is that they have a 30 day guarantee on the trainers you buy from their shops… so if these don’t fix my blisters and I’m still having the same problems in 30 days I can take them back and they will change them for me. I guess this means they must be quite confident in their advice. I’m hoping they are right ! So, I am now the proud owner of a rather bright pair of Asic GT-2160 trainers.
How are the new trainers doing Lisa???
I’ve run about 30 miles in them so far… one slight sore patch at the end of a 14 mile run but nothing like the blisters I was getting… I will see how they go over the next couple of weeks !
Have you tried barefoot technology like Vibrams? I used to have terrible problems with my knees when running, something that has been a problem since I was a child. Which is a real shame as I love running. Since I started with Vibrams that has all gone away. Took a while for my calf muscles to get used to the strain, but now it’s fine. I don’t run as far as you of course, but worth having a little look at.
